The Man Talks About His Game.

Tekken 6 is out. There are many who love the game to pieces (like me) while some hate it for hating’s sake, many wish it could be better. In the wake of this momentous release, Namco-Bandai’s Katsuhiro Harada, who’s been working on the Tekken franchise for the past 15 years, speaks up on the history of the series and the making of the latest Iron Fisted sequel. Check out the Gametrailers video here.

Happy Halloween and Happy Kung-Fu Fighting!

Asuka sez, ‘Have a Happy Halloween and play Tekken 6 or I’m gonna kick your ass!”

Man, this week has been pretty amazing to me. My long-awaited dream game, Tekken 6, FINALLY arrived after a prolonged wait, and for the most part I am pleased and happy. After a few days of HEAVY play I am still raring to get back into it, just to play Ghost Battle or Scenario Campaign, to earn more Fight Money or to unlock endings. There’s so much to do, discover and see in this beautiful, beautiful fighter.

My initial 2-day break to play the game still left me wanting, so it’s great that this Halloween-All Saints’ Day long weekend will give me even more time to savour the game and just kick back. On the way home from work today I intend to pass by the grocery to pick up junk food and supplies so I can just hole up in The Sanctum and play the hell out of the game.

So everyone, got your Tekken 6 yet? If not, I hope you get it soon and enjoy it. Be safe and have a brawling holiday break!

Gamers Ask, Harada-san Answers!

Computer and Videogames, in cooperation with Namco-Bandai, had their viewers send various questions to Tekken 6 producer Katsuhiro Harada a while back, and now he’s given his answers. Some points…

…the reason for Jin’s becoming EEH-vil is… HARADA! NOOOO!!!

…it’s not good to be a pro-wrestler in the Tekken World. NOOOOO!!!!

…if you’re a Tekken Tag fan, don’t stop hoping!

…if Jun Kazama ever reappears, she’ll be a lot older.

…Streetfighter/Virtua Fighter vs Tekken?

…more intense facial expressions for Tekken 7?

Not all Tekken 6-related, but quite a bit of interesting fluff. At the very least, it hints that the next King of Iron Fist Tournament is already taking shape somewhere… Check out the full article here.

1Up's Tekken 6 Review

The girls’ disagreements regarding Tekken 6′s ratings got ugly real fast.

1Up has posted their evaluation of the latest King of Iron Fist Tournament. Tekken 6 receives a score of B+, with reviewer Richard Li hitting on the laggy netcode and clunky Scenario Campaign, but otherwise praising the deep gameplay and features.

Check out the review here.

I experienced the laggy play myself, so there’s really room for improvement on this end, along with stuff like the inability to customize characters on the P2 side (only the P1 player profile registers). I wholly disagree on the Scenario Campaign though, but that’s me.

Gamespot's Tekken 6 Review

Nina’s latest gripe with her sister? Anna’s LARPing addiction.

Yet another mainstream gaming site posts their review on the console versions of Tekken 6. This time, it’s Gamespot, coming in with a pretty good score and lots of high praise, citing the huge roster, customizations and Scenario Campaign mode. Check out the review here.

Overall one of the best-written reviews I’ve read online, although I think they could have rated it a bit higher. However, what sets this review apart from most and makes me give it a nod is that the reviewer actually LIKED the Scenario Campaign mode, calling it ‘surprisingly addictive’ and a ‘must play if you’re at all interested in the story of Tekken 6′, which is dead-on true and something a lot of reviews miss entirely.

Anyway, my little Tekken 6 vacation’s over for the meantime, although a long weekend’s coming up where I’ll be able to play a LOT more. I’ll be finishing up my thoughts for my dual-review sometime next week. Later then!

Gametrailers' Tekken 6 Review

With some customizations costing in the millions, the ‘Try before you Buy’ Customization Shop is one of the best additions to Tekken 6 console.

Namco-Bandai’s latest and greatest gets the video review treatment over at Gametrailers. The mostly-positive review cites the game as a ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ kind of thing. Good points include the accessible yet deep gameplay and variety of modes. Once again, Scenario Campaign is hit, as well as remarks saying that the fighting system is ‘stiff’ and odd-looking with fighters keeping their opponents in the air by hitting their ankles… dude… every fighting game has silly, over-the-top juggles, including VF and SF. What is it with these weird double standards?

Anyway, decent score and nice footage on the review anyway. Check it out here.

As for MY review, I’ll have something up by next week or so… planning to do something special aside from the usual written review. We’ll see. Stay tuned! For now though… gotta get back to playing.

The Lone Gamer Got Game! TEKKEN 6!

Two years of waiting…has ENDED!

EGADS! Yes, Tekken 6 is in the HOUSE! I’ve been waiting for this game ever since I fell in love with it waaay back in late 2007, so forgive my absolute gushing. I actually had to work a bit to be able to get my game already- some slight begging and a bit of legwork got me my relatively early copy. Otherwise, if I just left everything to my then-existing preorder, I’d probably have to wait at least two more days. TWO MORE DAYS? LIKE HELL!

Anyway, funny thing. I popped in the disc and got ready to play… and was met by the System Update screen. Had to update the PS3 firmware. Took a bit. THEN… got ready to play… was met by the Tekken 6 Update screen. I guess this is 1.01 update is for the online coop play, so no biggie. THEN I got ready to play… saw the Intro (still looks slick as butter) and then… a loading screen. Long loading. DAMN I have to Install the Game first. Installing…

Anyway, long story short, I’ve got THE game. I’ve got Tekken 6. It’s been a HELL of a wait, but it’s here. I’ll be playing from now and won’t be stopping (much) for the next couple of days. If anyone wants to ask anything about the console version (PS3), just post in The Comments for this Article. I’ll try my best to answer them later. It’s the least I can do for all of the awesome TLG readers who waited along with me all these long months. If you’re still reading me, then you probably don’t have the game yet, so I’ll do my best to make the wait a little easier. Just take note, I won’t go online playing yet. Anything else, I’ll do my best later.

Anyway, that’s that. Gotta start playing then!

Reliving Tekken 6 Launch Night

Weren’t there during Namco-Bandai’s big shebang for Tekken 6‘s launch? Join the club! Well, even if we weren’t there among the VIPs and lucky bastards who got to hang out with free food and free copies of Tekken 6, we can see all the recorded hubbub by UFRAG TV here.

It looked like a cool time, with MarkMan of SD-Tekken and In Joon Hwang, NB’s marketing manager for the game, present. Anyway, it’s a nice thing to watch and kill time with as we count down the hours, with tons of info, fighting game talk and gossip. Check it out!

The 12th Hour

Okay people. It’s about half a day, 12 hours to go till the end of the wait. Once Oct. 27 hits, all bets are off. It’s incredible, but somehow, our years-long vigil for Tekken 6, for some lasting up to four years (since the game first was announced for PS3), has now been shorn down to mere hours. I’m aware though that not everyone is getting their copy on the 27- Japan gets release on Oct. 30, while Australia gets it next week.

Hopefully I’ll get my copy soon- maybe sooner than I think, but by hook or by crook, I will be having my Tekken 6 Play-a-thon starting tomorrow till Wednesday. Yep, two full days of nothing but Tekken 6. I’ve been waiting for this game for the past two years; I’m gonna freakin’ make an EVENT out of my first play of the console versions.

I even got my itinerary set up. Gonna play arcade with my Mains, Asuka and Lili, first and foremost, just to orient. Then play some Ghost Battle. Then I’ll get into Scenario Campaign for the duration. Hopefully once I finish I’ll have lots of Fight Money for decent customizations. Then, I’ll go for the Arena Story Mode to unlock all the Endings. All this of course should go into my eventual review, which I should post sometime next week or so.

Crossing fingers! The Wait is almost over, gents and ladies. It’s been a great couple of years waiting for this game with all of you.

Of course, life goes on after this, with more games and more blogging… but I think we’ve achieved something together. Later then!
