The Official Playstation Blog just scored a slick interview with Rich ‘FilthieRich’ Bantegui, Namco-Bandai’s Community Manager and overall cool dude on Soul Calibur V. The highlights of the article include the new additions to gameplay, Ezio Auditore’s gameplay style and, best of all for me, some nice tidbits about Character Creation! So check out the whole thing over here.

Really cool to finally hear the goods on CAS, even if it pretty much confirms that we’ll be using the existing roster styles for the created characters. The more detailed and layered customization and the ability to alter gameplay variables is intriguing though. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to see a sample of this much-beloved feature. The Soul burns hard this coming January 31, 2012.

Girls, GIRLS! Can’t we all get along..?

We’re inching closer and closer to the release of Soul Calibur V, and the game’s looking better and better the nearer it gets. We’re all still probably reeling from the large amount of reveals in the past several days- Ezio Auditore, Leixia, Nightmare, Raphael, Dampierre and such- but here’s a bit more info to chew on. Gamer Jaxel has posted a very detailed article on the latest build of SCV, including comments on the new characters, gameplay and other aspects. If you’re interested in the game, check ‘em out over here.

Ezio and Raphael duke it out.

So far I am loving how the game looks- the Stages are amazing (damn that Chinese stage ROCKS!), the characters look super-detailed, the current storyline intriguing and the things they are doing to make this new SC full of content is commendable. If I have any gripes it’s that the gameplay may be a bit too flashy- too many lights and sparks going on that it’s kinda obscuring the fighters themselves. But that’s just a teeny nitpick… this game is already sold for me. January 31, 2012 can’t come soon enough- and I’m wanting that Collector’s Edition. More as we get it then. For now, enjoy the SCV gameplay vids above from ExaminerGames.

Soul Calibur V Trailer Confirms Ezio Auditore! (Also Dampierre?!)

The Man from Florence arrives in the Soul Calibur World.

Even though we were probably convinced that the leaked pics from the Soul Calibur V reveal event last Oct. 17th were legit, apparently the rest of the web kept this classified as rumor up until today- when Gametrailers finally debuted this new trailer for SCV, featuring the entrance into the SC Universe of the Master Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze from the Assassin’s Creed series. Also appearing in the spot is Nightmare, who’s apparently very male and still very beastly.

Looks like Ezio’s come with at least some of his signature takedowns and arsenal, including the hidden blades and hidden pistols/crossbows. I think he’s a perfect fit for the game era and setting, and as well shouldn’t be overpowered like some overblown nobody apprentice… mmm.

The Joker- er, Dampierre barges in on the action in SCV.

UPDATE: CVG has posted several vids on SCV, including an interview with Hisaharu Tago and a trailer debut (of sorts…) for Dampierre, the backstabbing rogue who made his first appearance in Soul Calibur IV Broken Destiny. Apparently this kooky bladesman will only be available (at least initially, I think) as a bonus for those who Preorder the game. I’m sure he’ll be made available in other channels, perhaps on PSN or Xboxlive, eventually.

Can’t wait to get my hands on this game!!! Soul Calibur V drops early next year, January 31, 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox360.
