Combot Kicks Ass in this Clip.

Gamespot just posted this short but sweet look at the Fight Lab Training mode from the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for consoles. It pretty much confirms the return of Tekken 4′s Combot as a playable, making him your avatar within the mode (at least). Looks like you’ll be able to practice attacking various levels (HIgh/Mid/Low) as well as some sort of Guard Crush and what appears to be a Super? Anyway, this is surely a precursor to more cool stuff from the home TTT2, set for release on PS3 and Xbox360 in September 2012. It’s the 17th here where I am, but that’s a day earlier than the US half of the world. The good stuff and new trailer may come within the day or later this afternoon. Keeping my eyes peeled then..

Tekken Tag 2: Console Release in September with TONS of New Content?!

According to some items posted on Twitter and on gaming site Siliconera, some pretty significant tidbits have been revealed by Namco-Bandai about their upcoming console release of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

For starters, the home versions, which were originally given a vague ‘Holiday 2012′ release, are apparently now slated for September 2012… Which is relatively not that far off! Also, apparently re-confirmed is that the console will be getting lots of new content- apparently majorly in the way of new characters. Though no solid numbers have been given, according to some tweets from NB’s rep FilthieRich there will be ‘TONS’ of new fighters joining the fray on the home versions. In the Siliconera article, Katsuhiro Harada mentioned that even former DOA creator Tomonobu Itagaki commented that there are ‘too many’ fighters (that Itagaki… still an ass).

Also, the console will be getting a New Stage (Brazil), an extensive Tutorial mode and a ‘Fight Lab’ mode for the novice player, where they can practice against customized bots. The new 1 vs 1, 2 vs 1, 2 vs 2 modes added in Unlimited will also be included in the console.

To be honest, my hype and anticipation for TTT2 has pretty much died in the past few months due to Namco-Bandai being so vague with this game- I have TTT2 Fatigue. By now I am bored to death of seeing the Vanilla game in our local arcades, and have no desire to play that (rather wait for TTT2U or the console).
It will take a lot to get me excited… but apparently a LOT is indeed what the game will be getting on console. I hope an improved Customization System is among the additions on the home versions. But this sounds very promising. Apparently a new trailer as well is coming on the 17th, so I’ll be on this like a freakin’ Hawk. More as we get it then!

UPDATE: The TTT2 Official Site for the Console Version is online. Nothing much yet but you can check it out here.

Don’t miss the new ‘Item Move’ with Nina at 0.42… Heheh…

In case you missed it, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited is now out in Japanese arcades (International gamespots will get it later this year), and along with all the new changes and tweaks to gameplay and the added player modes (1 vs 1, 2 vs 1), we got new items and customizations. Among the new items are Item Moves, some of which, like Nina’s Halo, take effect only when you are knocked out in a certain way. This Tekken chapter certainly has ramped up the wackiness (wait till someone posts a vid of Anna’s Dance-till-you-drop Item), which I appreciate… even if the customization has been slightly (and irritatingly) simplified. Anyway, this should be out on consoles this coming Holiday 2012. For now, check out Shintairiku Kumigaya’s channel for more direct-feed TTT2U matches.

More Tekken to come this Spring!

No, it’s still not the much-anticipated first trailer for Tekken X Streetfighter, but it’s something for Iron Fist Fans. Here’s the English version of the TTT2 Unlimited debut PV, so now you can figure out what’s going on. Well, turns out all the dialogue is harping about the various play modes, and little else. Meh for me. Well, I just want this upgrade out already so we can see all the nice new content that SHOULD be included with it. While the international audience is given a bit of a vague Spring 2012 release, at least Japanese arcades will get their Unlimited Fix starting March 27. We’ll see if this is as awesome as the trailer is making it out to be soon enough.

The Tekken Tag 2 Unlimited Trailer Tells it All.

Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2 has just been revealed. The game will now support several modes of play, in addition to the default 2 VS 2 match-ups. 1 VS 1 will be the classic single-fighter Versus Mode in non-tag fighting games. 1 VS 2 may seem to be an unfair match, as there will be two lifebars against one- but Harada says ‘Don’t worry, it’s balanced’, obviously meaning that the single player side will either have higher damage output and life bar, or both. Kinda like the same way being done in the also-upcoming Skullgirls. Finally, TTT2U will support the previously-announced Pair Play, which allows for 4-player, 2 VS 2 matches.

New Ways to Play TTT2!

Okay, now there will surely be the remarks of- why add solo play to a TAG fighter? Hey, it’s an option available that you can take or not. I think the devs were given the brief that there are gamers who may be intimidated in managing a 2-player team, so this can get these guys and girls playing TTT2. 1 VS 2 would be a nice way for these Lone Wolves to take on those gamers more well-versed in Tag Team play.

Now you can play Tag… Solo. Hmmm… er, cool!

Anyway, as per the trailer, it seems that all the additions to ‘Unlimited’ pertain to gameplay modes- there doesn’t seem to be any new content aside from that. So, nada on any new characters or other stuff… for now. Well, the Item Moves and new stuff from the last trailer still isn’t in the game so maybe we’ll see new stuff trickle in as the game is finished and released.
Pretty sure these additional game modes will make it into the eventual console release, which is good. Not totally sold on this being ‘Unlimited’ but, hey, it’s a start. This upgrade shouid make it into arcades later this year. More as we get it then!
