One of the most godly mods ever is coming.

What can I say? The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim is one of my favorite games ever, and I’m still damn playing it about three years after release. Mods, man. Mods are the culprit. They’ve changed the game graphically so that it looks like a next-gen (or at least now-gen) game, made the gameplay infinitely more playable and immersive than it ever was out of the box, and adds content continually day by day it seems that makes it all feel new. I honestly see myself playing it throughout this year and beyond.

And then there’s THIS mod. Skywind. It’s basically bringing Morrowind, or the Elder Scrolls III, into the Skyrim engine, and it’s looking freakin’ fantastic. It’s a huge undertaking that Bethesda should truly feel great about; is there any other game franchise that has inspired this amount or level of fan-made content?

There’s still no release date of this monumental mod, but once it arrives- man, I really hope this turns out as great as it looks. Will I do a Let’s Play with it? Almost certainly (not Vryll though- perhaps a distant relative? Hahaha). We’ll cross that bridge when we get there though. For now, enjoy the feature video above and dream of the adventures to come.

The Lone Gamer’s Skyrim Let’s Play: Episodes 9 and 10

The War on Terror in Whiterun rages on!

WOWZERS! Will miracles never cease? Over last weekend I was able to upload not ONE, but TWO… TWO episodes of my Elder Scrolls V Skryim Roleplaying Let’s Play series. I guess I had a bit more time and the internet connection exceptionally stable at the time. Anyway, it was also fortunate so we can finally get this particular phase of our hero, Vryll Lytharn’s career- his rather prolonged bout of bandit-killing- behind him. Well, I have to say that killing bandit scum never really gets old, but it can get a bit tiresome after a while, if unchecked.

From here, Vryll will be able to do a bit of soul searching and get the opportunity to focus on more important things- like, getting his magical skills upgraded so he can finally be on his way to becoming the badass master wizard we know he can be. And in Skyrim, there’s only one place where one can do that…

Vryll’s War on Whiterun Crime ends with an assault on White River Watch.

Anyway, for now though, enjoy the vids! I am quite overjoyed at how quite a few more watchers are seeing the LP, which goes a long way in motivating me to making and posting more vids. As usual, I’ll try my best to post more episodes more often per week. As we go into the Holiday break this week, I’ll try to post a LOT more vids, so stay tuned. Later then!

Be vewy, vewy quiet… we’re hunting bandits!

First off, I’d like to say that I am really, really happy that more than a few people are finally watching our Elder Scrolls V Skryim LP; it’s enough to keep me motivated and wanting to release a new video as soon as I can. I do plan on going for at least two or three vids a week, at least- it’s all a matter of getting past the current busy period at the day job.

In any case, the Adventures of our Altmer Adventurer, Vryll Lytharn, continues with the newly-installed Thane of Whiterun embarking on a crusade to rid the hold of its rampant bandit problem- though it may be kind of obvious that Vryll’s reasons for wanting to slaughter more bandits is more personal than an issue of public service. It’s sure to be quite an action-filled next few episodes as Thane Vryll and his faithful crusaders (AKA Hjoromir the Daydreamer and Lydia the Housecarl) go after bandit camp after bandit camp, working their way to the Godfather of Whiterun crime- The Iron Hand himself.

Vryll Lytharn is a down-on-his-luck High Elf from Cyrodiil who has come to Skyrim seeking a new start. Through spell and sword and luck and wit, he’ll make the long climb to fame and fortune and perhaps, along the way, save the world. If he doesn’t drink himself to death first.

The Skyrim LP is a heavily-modded playthrough on PC, played on Expert Settings and using, primarily, the SkyRe gameplay overhaul mod. Episodes will be posted on the Youtube channel at least once or several times a week. Stay tuned for the next part!

Skyrim Mod: Follower Commentary Overhaul

Giving your Skyrim buds more say in any matter.

Now THIS is a mod I’ve been waiting for a long, long time. Even simply through watching some of the latest Skyrim LPs, the utter repetition of some vanilla followers’ dialogue is incredibly annoying and immersion-breaking. Custom followers like Inigo and heck, anyone from Interesting NPCs just makes the out-of-the-box followers act like robots in comparison. Also, seeing and hearing content locked away in the game by Bethesda is always darn awesome (that’s why the Civil War Overhaul is so interesting, bugs aside).

And so this mod is a godsend; I certainly intend to install it posthaste; thankfully my LP is still ongoing and at this point I am currently without followers- It will be a nice change to experience once I get reunited and travelling with Lydia again. Looking forward to that!
Ah, Skyrim. Still changing, still growing after all these years. Goddamn amazing. I love freakin’ MODS.

The Lone Gamer’s Skyrim Let’s Play Update

If you’re one of the few individuals who actually watch my Skyrim Let’s Play (I love you), well, you may have noticed that updates are a bit delayed. While it is true that I would love to have more people seeing the vids, I am still very much as motivated to keep the series going now as I was when I started.

The only trouble is, well, ME having more fun playing the game than working on the vids. I think this is actually a good thing, which will keep this series going for quite a while. On the other hand, I know I do have to force myself to put the damn controller down (yes, I use an Xbox360 Windows Controller for PC) and actually edit and post the damn episodes.

Full disclosure anyway- my stockpile of vids telling Vryll’s story and rise to power is HUGE. I think he’s barely Level 7 or so in the current posted episode (Ep.7). As of this writing, he’s already Level 43. YIKES! To be honest, it’s amazing to see how far he’s come. This is actually the first time I’ve really played a more-or-less full mage (Battlemage, really) instead of a Warrior who uses Magic, and in SkyRe at that, which makes it all so new for me. And I am having a ball with it.

Anyways, yes- episodes are still coming- I do plan on posting more than just one a week. I have a lot to post, and I’d like to thank, this early all those viewers who have given me awesome encouragement. Don’t worry- Vryll’s adventures aren’t going away anytime soon- We’ve got Two or Three Seasons worth recorded already. WOW! Stay tuned then for more postings.

Dragon Rising.

Sorry for the bit of delay in between this and the previous episode- I really should work on posting more often. I think it would do well to make episodes slightly shorter, but posted more often. Large files are hard to upload. Anyways, my Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Let’s Play continues!
Our hero, Elf mage Vryll Lytharn, finds himself trudging along one dark and rainy night, towards what may be his doom- he’s about to come face to face with a dragon threatening Whiterun, and somehow he and a small band of guardsmen must bring down a monster straight out of legend.

There’s action, a bit of mystery (well, quite a lot actually) plus we get a new companion at the end of it. Yikes! Is Vryll firing Hjoromir? Just watch and see. Heheh…

iNeed: A Skyrim Mod for Eat, Drink and Sleep

Gopher takes us through another needs mod with quite a few features.

iNeed is yet another mod that once again extends and deepens the single-player world of Skyrim, in both gameplay and roleplaying elements. As like similar mods (Realistic Needs and Diseases), iNeed enables your character to get hungry, thirsty and tired- needs which will have big repercussions and debuffs unless satisfied. The difference here are several new options- like the option to enable eating/drinking animations for followers, so that when your character dines, they’ll join him/her as well (always cool for roleplaying). You can also enable actual need effects for followers as well, so that you’ll need to provide them with food and drink as well as equipment, weapons and armor. Neglect their needs and their performance in combat will suffer as well.

The follower options are interesting, to say the least. I want to try out this mod, even though I already have RN&D installed. I like the idea of having my followers join me when I dine, and the actual need to feed them food and drink will have a definite effect on gameplay AND roleplay. If I do so, it may be a while until this actually reflects in vids since I have recorded quite a few chapters in advance. We’ll see!

Vryll heads for Whiterun!

So cat’s out of the bag- hapless hero Vryll Lytharn has finally realized his recurring nightmare wasn’t some alcoholic pipe-dream, but a real memory. Apparently somewhere between him fleeing his stricken caravan and stumbling in half-dead and half-sane in Riverwood, he got mixed into the Imperial Ambush alongside Ulfric Stormcloak and Alduin’s debut into Tamriel. Well, thankfully the past few days of adventuring and becoming a lot stronger than he was when he started in Skyrim has allowed the alcoholic Elf to muster his courage, realize that the people of Riverwood are in danger and that he must act immediately.
The agenda- get to Whiterun posthaste and warn the Jarl of the scaly, fire-breathing threat, and perhaps get some guards to be posted in Riverwood. After that, who knows? Maybe Vryll can take a break, see about exploring some nice Dwemer ruins far, far away from the nearest dragon. Right? RIGHT. Heheh…

I’ll be trying my best to upload more often, perhaps twice or even more vids a week (maybe shorter vids per episode?). I’ve actually recorded a lot of gameplay that’s ready to be edited and done up, and I just want to PLAY a lot more of this character and get him kicking ass. Well, we’ll get there soon enough. Please check out the vid, Like, Comment and Subscribe. Later then!

This week, Vryll tries his hand at… cosplay?

Another week, another episode of my Let’s Roleplay Skyrim! After his successful expedition to Bleak Falls Barrow, Vryll Lytharn sets his sights on a more personal quest- to resolve his recent sleeping problem. With disturbing dreams keeping him from a good night’s rest, he sets off for Helgen and ends up fighting very real enemies- like more bandits (always bandits!), the local wildlife, undead Thalmor and his own bad sense of direction. But what lies at the end of the day is a startling revelation that will yet again change the fledgeling wizard and Dragonborn forever.

Vryll the Altmer’s adventures continue!

In my Roleplaying Let’s Play for The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim (PC), the chase for the Golden Claw continues into the depths of Bleak Falls Barrow, where the dead don’t lie quietly in the dark. This fully-voiced LP uses a ton of mods, including SkyRE (Skyrim Redone), Immersive Patrols, Immersive Creatures, Deadly Dragons, Dragon Combat Overhaul, Realistic Lighting Overhaul, Skyrim Audio Overhaul, Immersive Armors, Interesting NPCs, Equipping Overhaul, Climates of Tamriel, Dimonized UNP Body Replacer, Coverwomen and more.
Vryll Lytharn is a down-on-his-luck Altmer Wannabee-Wizard and novice adventurer who’s come to Skyrim seeking a new life. He’s irritable, a bit arrogant, a bit stuffy and drinks a bit too much- but he’s got a good heart somewhere beneath the golden skin, and perhaps the making of a hero. Which is a good thing, because the fate of the world just may lie in his hands…

Please watch, comment and Like this vid and series! Definitely more adventures to come soon.
